Tension Headaches

Condition:

Tension headaches are triggered by a number of maladies. The first and foremost is poor postural alignment with nerve root compression. Other causes can include nerve compression of the sub-occipital region (base of the head), poor posture, stress, poor diet, hydration and even foot or environmental triggers can bring on a tension headache. The key is to identify what you are sensitive to and avoid as much as is possible those triggers

Treatment:

Treatment for tension headaches is most successful with a combination of avoiding triggers and physical therapy. Physical therapy treatment includes:

  • Spinal Manipulation
  • Postural exercise
  • Ergonomic and positional education
  • Ice, electrical stimulation, cold laser, light therapy and heat

Other Treatment includes medication, chiropractic care, and extensive investigation on triggers for these headaches
