Sport related injuries

Condition:

Sports related injuries of the spine are not common but happen frequently enough to be a major concern for prevention, early diagnosis and treatment in your athletes. These injuries occur in high impact sports like football, rugby, boxing, and wrestling. The most common injuries from these sports include stingers (nerve overstretch or over compression), spondylolysis (fracture of the pars interarticularis), disc annular fiber sprain, and concussions.

Treatment:

Depending on the injury, treatment will vary greatly. One of the common threads with these injuries is the need to provide education and training to coaches, trainers and athletes on the importance of prevention, early detection of injury when it occurs and appropriate precautions to allow healing or treatment to address injuries requiring significant medical care.
